This is our favorite wantan noodles of all, that is to say besides those from Muar. Famous Pontian WanTon Noodle’s shop is located at Subang Jaya, SS15 along the same row with Salmon Steak.

This is a franchise from Pontian. Even though we’ve not tried the original shop in Pontian, the franchise’s food quality is good enough. Apart from Subang Jaya, they have other franchises throughout Malaysia and Singapore. The restaurant is almost full during the weekends. Its usually crowded with family and students living around the SS15 area.

PP’s favorite wantan noodle is the one with black sauce and chilli. It brings out the dark soy sauce noodles taste, but accompanied with a special fragrance from the chilli. The bowl of noodles is served with slices of char siew, vegetable and fried wantan. Their wantan tastes different too. Its accompanied with slight fragrance of salted fish.

My favorite wantan noodle is the one with chilli and tomato sauce. Among those living in PJ and KL, there are still a lot of people that cannot accept the tomato taste. In my opinion, the tomato taste however is very refreshing when taken during breakfast.

Apart from the wantan noodles, this restaurant also serve their famous curry laksa. The curry laksa carries the southern curry taste. Soup is not too thick, curry flavor not too strong but just nice to take with. Apart from these main food, the restaurant also serves a variety of desserts. Our favorite from here is their peanut soup, sweet yam paste and red bean soup.

Thanks to TakWee who recommended us there are 2 shops that selling red sauce wan tan mee in Kota Kemuning and Subang Jaya SS15.

Today, we went to try the Pontian Noodles which located in Kota Kemuning. This is the first branch of Pontian Noodles in Klang Valley. Their original shop in Pontian established since 1948, over 50 years now.

This place only took us 15 mins from Kelana Jaya to Kota Kemuning. Thanks to the new fly over that link Subang Airport road to USJ. Then turn right into Kesas Highway before Submit Shopping mall. Once you exit Kesas and enter to Kota Kemuning, go straight and enter into 3rd turning from the rotary. Turn right at the 1st right junction, then you will see a McDonalds on your right. Turn left at the 1st junction and Pappa Rich is on your right then go straight and Pontian Noodles is just on your left.

We ordered 3 types of wan tan mee, tomato sauce, chilli sauce and chillis + black sauce. Personally, I preferred the tomato sauce pontian noodles because the taste is the closest to the Singapore and Pontian style red sauce wan tan mee.

In term of noodles, it taste quite nice because the noodle is not too soft or too hard, it just nice to us. Then the sauce are rich in favor. The tomato sauce one is a bit sweet and sour which we like the most compare to chilli sauce and black sauce one. On the other hand, the wan tan is not too big, we really don’t like the wan tan with too much of filling and big like ping pong. Their wan tan is just nice in small size with lean pork inside. Yummy!

However, 2 things i think they should improve further:

1. The BBQ pork is missing and i think this is quite important for wan tan mee.

2. They can put some vegetables and serve with noodles to make the meal more balance.

Overall, they are serving tasty and yummy red sauce wan tan mee and sure we will go back again.

Update on 31 May 2010:

I went back yesterday and their Wan Tan Mee got Char Siew now. In fact, their Char Siew quality is quite good!

Also they will be serving deep fried wan tan soon.

Ikea’s coffee is one of PP’s favorite to enjoy at home after a hectic day at work. Tastes just like “brew coffee of the day” from any Starbucks or San Franciso. This coffee comes in a vacuum pack and it certainly is worth buying. With only RM9.90, you can make more than 15 cups of coffee out of this pack.

What you’ll be needing is a glass with filter, which you may also get it from IKEA. To make this coffee, you’ll need to have a glass of hot water poured into the filter glass together with a tablespoon of the coffee powder. Wait for about 10 – 15 mins, filter out the coffee powder and your drink is ready. Add in sugar to your liking.

This morning we went to SS2 for breakfast. Recently we had too much of chicken and fish so we decided go for beef. Since yau yau don’t have preference, I have suggested go to SS2 Hock Seng Two Restaurant which on the way to Ikea.

This beef noodle stall just located in front of the Proton Wira in above picture, behind the chicken rice stall. Very easy to find.

The soup of this beef noodle is clear type, not too salty but rich in favor and beef taste. A bowl of beef noodle got a lot of ingridients such as beef, stomach, beef ball and salty vegetable. The beef is very tender and soft, I really like it because the meat will not stuck in my teeth. Next worth to mentioned ingridient is beef ball, it so tender and fresh. We would like to remind you that must order soup one, not the dry one because the dry noodle sauce is not that good, just the normal dark soy sauce and onion oil, nothing special.

In term of the price, is quite pricy in this kind of food court. Big one is RM7 and small size is RM6. However I will say is worth for the price because they really give a lot of meat until my last mouthful of kuey teow still got a lot of beef left over.

Address :
66, Jalan SS2/66, Seksyen SS2, Petaling Jaya, Selangor.
Direction : Opposite the Old Taste Kopitiam and Prince Cafe, Behind Sun Hing Loong Restaurant.
So, I was jokingly saying, eh, supper? Surprisingly, he say yeah… I wanna eat KL’s beef noodle. Wow, I said. U sure? That’s very far, coz we normally don’t travel for food. He say yeah… but come to think of it… Kepong’s prawn noodle sounds as delicious too.

We’ve finally settled for prawn noodle at Kepong. I think the time that we’re about to go out was 1am. Hehe.. you guys know wat, we’re really not those supper kind of people. We actually yawned all the way from Ara Damansara to Kepong. The prawn noodle shop is called “Hoo Yee Kee”, and it has been in that area for quite some time. Its located by the road side, at the area of other food stalls at Kepong Baru. This shop is very visible as it has a huge prawn as the shop’s landmark.

PP and I both ordered a bowl of prawn noodle for each of us. We’ve also topped up with some other ala-carte dishes such as lala and pork intestines. These 2 dishes are cooked in the same prawn noodle soup, and it tastes sweet. As for the prawn noodle, it comes with vegetable, prawns, bean sprouts slices of pork meat and egg. The soup is quite clear and its not as thick as the one at Chow Yang.

Their noddle noodle and the ala-carte dishes tastes good. Come on over to try it out if you haven’t! This place is real famous for those working night shift at KL and Kepong area.

Talking about NZX at Ara Damansara the other day, we would also like to take the chance to recommend some good food over there. We’ve picked Station 1 Cafe because its packed of people at that day. We felt that the food there won’t go wrong if the restaurant is full of people. Oh and, it has FREE WIFI!

Station 1 Cafe’s style is just like any other Wong Kok or Prince Cafe. I think the only difference here is that they serve beer over here. Hence, this is a good place for people to meet up, chit chat and while they enjoy their beers. No wonder its so packed. This cafe have a number of outlets here at Klang Valley area. They have cafes at Subang Jaya, Puchong, Kuchai Lama and etc etc.

OK, back to the food. The food served here ranges from local malay rice meals, to western to chinese and more. Well, for the first time being here, I’ve decided to try something safe, and ordered a nasi lemak with curry chicken. PP, ordered a spicy fried sauce noodle. We’ve waited for quite some time before being served with the food. I guess they could not cope with the number of orders. Hmm.. should improve on that!

My nasi lemak was served first. The nasi lemak’s fragrant sure makes me more hungry. The curry chicken that’s served with it is just nice, rich in flavor and tender. It also comes with a fried egg, some sambal, ikan bilis and peanuts. This plate of dish also comes with a stick of ota-ota. Hmm.. something new in a plate of nasi lemak.

PP’s noodle tastes good too. Its a little sweet and spicy. The noodle is topped with a dark gravy with minced meats. It also comes with a lot of sliced vegetable and carrot; it certainly looks healthy. The noodle is cooked just right, not too soft and its still has the chewy feel.

Yes, I know its a little bit late for me to blog about this shop. Who is not familiar about Big Apple Donuts in Malaysia? People often compare it with the JCo Donuts which has lesser chain stores here. Till now, PP and I have not tried any of the JCo Donuts yet. But our house mates and colleagues did have a try at it, and they have the same verdict which is JCo is slightly sweeter than Big Apple. They also said that the dough taste is not as good on the JCo. What do you think?

Well, Big Apple stores are now everywhere, almost all of the big shopping malls. They even have it near my housing area at NZX, Kelana Jaya. Wow. You can check their website for the list of stores, but now I think the site is still under construction.

What I like about this shop is its donuts and PP loves their coffee. Big Apple served ILLY coffee. PP’s all time favorite is the Americano. Their coffee is at an absolutely affordable price and it comes with a free glazed donut. Our favorite donuts are the Alien, Kimochi and also the Glazed one. Their donuts dough are soft and spongy when you bite on it. The flavors are not too strong, and you certainly do get the dough taste out of it. Its not overly sweet, just nice for those who don’t like sweet foods.

For those who have not tried it out, we strongly recommend that you must at try it.

This is one of our favourite spots during weekends. When we feel bored at home, we just grab our laptops and head over to the OldTown White Coffee restaurant at Kelana Mall. Its located at the corner lot of shophouses, right next to Kelana Jaya’s Giant Hypermarket.

What we like so much about this shop is the corner location. The place is windy and its very comfortable for you to sit there while surfing on the internet. This place offers FREE WIFI service. The internet connection here is pretty good and reliable. This restaurant is constantly full of patrons.

PP’s favourite drink at this shop is their coffee, no doubt! If we’re here for long, he’ll normally order two drinks, the Nanyang Memorably and also the original and best OldTown White Coffee. As for me, my favourite is still their ice lemon tea. I cannot find any other that is rich in flavour as theirs. Can even order two glasses of it when I’m there.

As for their food, they serve varieties of rice and noodle dishes. We like the mee rebus very much. Its comes with loads of ingredients and has a little taste of sweetness. PP’s favourite snack is their glutinous rice with kaya. With their delicious food and great service, its worth coming over for a try.

Looking at PP’s post about the bbq pork rice at damansara heights really makes me drool. As you know I’m a fan of sweetness, hence I happened to like bbq pork (char siew) too. KC told us before that there’s this very nice char siew rice near his working place at Hicom Glenmarie Industrial Park Shah Alam. The restaurant is called Meng Kee Char Siew. It seems to be that this is a branch of the famous Meng Kee at Jalan Tengkat Tong Shin.

So, last Saturday morning, I finally asked PP to go there and try it out. To get to that restaurant, you will have to drive through Glenmarie until you reach the Shell petrol station. At there, you will have to take the first left turn and go straight after that. Take a right at Jalan Pekedai and drive all the way down. The shop is located on your right side.

We went there quite early so its still breakfast time. They only serve wan tan noodles for breakfast. You’ll need to wait for lunch hour if you would like to eat rice instead. We’ve ordered two plates of wan tan noodle, char siew for 2 pax and roasted chicken for 2 pax. Roasted chicken was served first. PP found that the sauce for the chicken is salty. The wan tan noodle is good. The noodle is not too soft, and the sauce is just right, not too salty.

The best part is its char siew. Char siew is not overly sweet and its not too charred either. The meat is tender and the outer layer is sticky. Wow. One thing that I think would make it more perfect is if only they can slice the char siew thinner. We also do order two glasses of longan, winter melon drink. Its nice, very rich in taste and sweetness. Some other food that they serve are the steam chicken and vegetable. Do come and try if you’re at this area.
