Yut Kee is a very old restaurant located at Dang Wangi area. It is so famous that almost everyone working or living at KL or PJ area knows about this place. Unfortunately for us, the two hermits at home, we only got to know about it from our colleagues whom have been there for endless times.

Yut Kee serves their very famous “roti babi”. Its not a very good name to start with, but this piece of thing tastes seriously good. This dish is a serving of minced meat, crab meat and onion wrapped in two slices of bread which is fried like a french toast. One weird thing that we’ve noticed is that some patrons in this shop actually dipped their roti babi with the worcestershire sauce. We’ve tried doing the same, but did not like the taste of it.

Another well known dish from this coffee shop is their Hainanese Pork Chop. So far, our favorite hainanese chop is the one from Kluang Station. The version that they have over here is slightly different. The verdict after we’ve taken our first bite at the pork chop is.. well, it feels soggy but rich with flavor. The gravy is more on a watery side. This dish is accompanied with chunks of onion and wedges.

Our ‘little’ stomach can only take in this limited amount of food. We’ll definitely come here and try some other dishes and blog about it. Next time, I’ll be sure to buy a few pieces of their marble butter cake.

I would say that most of the Friday’s lunch is a fish head noodle meal. We’ve tried those at Damansara Kim, at Kuchai Lama and even Jalan Ipoh. Our favorite so far is the one at Kuchai Lama. I will introduce it in one of the future posts.

Distance from office to all these eatery places are about the same. Jalan Ipoh is a very busy street, especially during lunch time. Traffic is havoc. This fish head noodle place is located at a certain corner of Jalan Ipoh, which I do not know how to describe. What’s most distinguish is that, a chinese temple is located opposite this stall. Behind this stall, there’s a classic chinese garden decorated with a pavillion.

Its like back to the very olden days, something like “Journey To the West” kind of scenery. I suppose what’s missing is the monkey, pig & monk. Haha. Ok, back to the food. Fish head noodles served here looks somehow like the one at Kuchai Lama. It uses the super thick mee hoon. They called it “lai fun” if I’m not wrong. The fish head noodle’s soup is not that fragrant, we only tasted milk. It doesn’t really come with a lot of fish head, that’s because they’ve added fishballs and fu zuk to fill up the pot.

Apart from fish head noodles, there’s other dishes such as fried starchy noodle, fried “pak kor” and other fried stuffs such as fish cake, fu zuk and etc. We find that their side dishes tasted so much better if compared to the main dish. The other two plates of fried noodles that we’ve ordered tasted rather bland too.

Environment wise, this place is kind of hot during the afternoon. The stall is set up with zinc roof which provides a lot of heat. Crowd wise, all tables are almost filled up. It makes us wonder, why do they have so many patrons in this deserted stall where the food tastes only so-so? You might wanna head over here to try out the food, you might find it to your liking. But its definitely not to ours as we said to ourselves that this is only a once in a lifetime experience. :p

We’ve ordered a plate of spaghetti bolognese and carbonara. This is the worst spaghetti that we’ve ever had!! Gosh, every plate served was bland and lack of ingredients. Its purely spaghetti noodles and sauce with some ham or minced meat. We even had to top it up with lots of cheese powder and tabasco sauce.

I think this shop is a no no! With that amount of price that you’re paying, you might as well as cook it yourself. You know where’s the best spaghetti that I’ve ever had? Its the one that PP made, and nobody tried that except for me. Yum, thanks gong.

I’m sure everyone that is working at Damansara Heights knows where Batai is. Most would park their cars here and this place is a walking distance to a few office buildings located nearby. Some others may also call this place Hock Lee. Why? It’s actually named after a famous mini market located here.

In this small square itself, you will find a few eatery shops. Today, I’ll be introducing the one that’s located in the middle of the row of shops. It’s called restoran seng lee. To get here, you must first locate where Hock Lee is. Hock Lee is by the main roadside, and the restaurant is lcated behind Hock Lee , same row with restoran shangri-la within the Batai parking.

The food that’s nice at this restaurant is the famous char kuey teow. We don’t really have craving for ckt, hence we did not order that. Other good food are such as pork noodles, wan tan noodles, curry noodles and etc. PP had wantan noodles while I’ve ordered myself a bowl of pork noodles.

Their pork noodle is a huge difference compared to the one at Subang Jaya. This is the clear soup type, hence taste is not that strong as well. This is good for sickly people. :p Ok, the bowl of noodle has pork liver (our fav), minced meat, slices of pork meat and of course the vegetables.

As for the wantan noodle, PP says its good for a KL standard. The noodle comes with a small bowl of wantan in soup. This is the dark soy sauce type, and you can find a consistent taste of its rich flavor in every mouthful you take. But then, I must say this again, nobody beats Muar’s wantan noodle! There’s only so few places where we get good wantan noodles in KL. In my upcoming posts, I’m going to introduce the best wantan noodles that we’ve found in KL!

Now that I’m at the new company, once in a while I would also recommend my new colleagues to come here for lunch. Still, most of them preferred it’s char kuey teow, PP as well. One thing is, with good food, there’s a certain price to pay. This place is especially packed during lunch. It takes them darn long to prepare the char kuey teow as well.

But the wait is worth while. The plate of char kuey teow comes with a satisfying amount of cockles. Those are my favorite. It is also accompanied with a few pieces of huge prawns. There’s slices of crab meat as well. Every single noodle is rich with taste, all covered with egg and bean sprouts. Wow.. delicious!

Papa Rich serves all the usual stuffs that OT has, and has many other food varieties to choose from. PP and I have ordered a curry noodle, dry curry chicken noodle and a thick toast with condensed milk to share with.

Both the dry and soup curry noodles comes with bean sprouts, mint leaves, dried beancurd and fried bean curd sheets. My dry noodles came with a bowl of soup. The soup’s flavor is so intense, its the same soup base that they use for their Ipoh kuey teow. I know what I’m gonna try the next time.

PP’s curry noodles also has fresh clams. We both liked PP’s curry noodles better than the dry one. The gravy/soup was very intense with flavor, its thick with coconut milk, authentic Nyonya curry.

We also liked their thick toast with condensed milk. The sweetness just makes our day. So far, we’ve been to two Papa Rich outlets. One of them is at Kelana Jaya and the other at Damasara Utama. Both outlet’s food is with quality. Normally franchise outlet’s food quality differ from one to the other. Be sure that you know where to go for nice and good food!

Upon reaching the shop, you will see a huge poster of beef noodles. Entering the shop, you’ll see their whole range of dishes on the wall. They serve all sorts of noodles, from curry to clear soup and dry type. Apart from that there’s varieties of drinks too choose from as well.

PP ordered a dry beef noodle while I ordered a soup noodle with steam chicken. What I like in this shop is that they also serve steamboat ingredients. I think their specialty is the stuffed beef balls. You may choose to add them to your bowl of soup noodles. I’ve ordered a few pieces of seafood tou fu for my noodles.

I like PP’s bowl of beef noodles. According to PP, the noodle tastes better in soup instead of dry. The beef are thinly sliced. In the bowl of soup, there’s carrot, beef stomach and beef balls. The soup tastes real nice. Rich in flavor, don’t think there’s MSG in it because we don’t feel thirsty after the meal.

I think my noodles are also cooked with the beef stock. Taking the noodles alone is good enough for me. We don’t quite like their steam chicken however. Its a little tough and the soy sauce is a little on the salty side. The noodle soup that I’ve ordered is the Ipoh style. It also comes with a plate of beansprouts.

Visit this shop if you’re at Cheras area. I think you won’t live to regret it. Also, if you would like to get ingredients for steamboat, you can visit them. Don’t miss out their beef balls, especially those stuffed ones. Next time I’m gonna try that one with the spicy fillings in it.

My brother and sis-in-law came from Singapore for a visit, and what they would enjoy most is KL food. Since they’re a fan of very spicy stuffs, PP and I have decided to bring them to Kin Kin Chilli Pan Mee.

Theirs is a dry type, not sure if they serve the soup as well. On the table, there’s a bottle of fried dry chilli and you will add these to your pan mee when served. I like it moderately so I only put less than a teaspoon. This chilli will really make ur stomach burn.

Ok, in this pan mee, there’s minced meat, spring onion, dry anchovies and a half cooked egg. Its nice to mix everything together and especially when the egg yolk burst and got mixed in the noodle. It bring out this very nice flavor even though it looks very plain.

You’re also served with a small bowl of soup with vegies in it. There’s more in this shop they serve beef and meat balls in soup. Very nice, and its a big portion.
