We’ve heard of Sakae Sushi during our travels to Singapore. Saw one of the restaurant at Heeren, Orchard Road. Now, they’ve came to Malaysia and opened an outlet at The Curve, Mutiara Damansara. Sakae Sushi is just another Genki or Sushi King. One thing that makes this restaurant special is that each table has a computer terminal that allows the customer to self order food. Just select what you want, click on the quantity to order and confirm the order.

As for the food variety, they serve the standard fare sushi bar stuff, nigri sushi, sashimi, maki rolls and temaki hand rolls. They also serve teppanyakki, hot pots, tempura and etc. Food quality, if compared to other conveyor belt sushi bars such as Genki and Sushi King was much better.

We’ve ordered a sakae salad, unagi tofu, miso soup, chawanmushi and a some plates of sushi from the conveyer belt. The sakae salad tastes just like our chinese yee sang. The ingredients in it are about the same too, they have jelly fish, vegetables, sweet tofu skin, tamago, green seaweed and fried breadcrumbs. It comes with a sweet sauce for you to mix the salad with. Just don’t pour too much of that sauce coz it’ll make the whole salad taste too sweet. I like their chawanmushi the best. Its texture is very smooth.

The hot green tea on the other hand was free flow. There’s a hot water dispenser at each table and you can refill it all time. We enjoyed dining at Sakae Sushi, the food was nice and the service was prompt. Price was on par. Worth going there for a try.

At the same day of our movie session at 1Utama, there’s this roadshow from MyStyle to meet with their StarCeleb contestants. One of the contestant gave us this small booklet and asked us if we would like to cast in a vote for him. By voting through sms, you get to enjoy different kinds of discounts from the shops listed in the booklet.

There’s two different types of vouchers to be used at selected stores and restaurants. Basically, you can receive discount vouchers on your mobile phone by send SMS to the number mentioned in booklet. Each SMS is either RM3.50 (my111) or RM1.50 (my365) depending on the voucher you are requesting for.

PP decided to request a voucher for Nando’s, which has got a FREE 1/4 chicken with rice worth RM10.80. Please note that 1 voucher only valid for 1 table.

Its actually very easy. Follow the instruction in booklet, type “my111 nandos” and sent to 33365.

After 10 seconds, received a SMS for Nando’s voucher.

Go straight to Nando’s @ 1U and ordered 1/4 Chicken with rice. All you need is to show the SMS to the waiter.

Here you go. PP ordered hot peri-peri. Check out the bill, “1 Free 1/4C+Rice” which costs you RM0.00.

Phew, finally had my chance to catch a movie with PP. We watched Transformers. I can say that we thoroughly enjoyed the movie. Before going to the movies, I suggested to PP that we have our breakfast at Taman Tun. Its been quite sometime since we’ve last been there. Some of the nice food that can be found there are such as prawn noodle, curry noodle, chicken rice and nyonya delicacies.

We’ve ordered a big bowl of prawn noodle and a fried kuey teow to share. Prawn noodle comes with slices of thin pork meat, vegetable, small prawns and bean sprouts. They will also give you extra sambal belacan just in case that you like it spicy. Soup wise, its sweet yet subtle in flavor. Everything is just nice, soup is not too salty or too thick. This shop’s prawn noodle is one of the best that we’ve tasted so far.

Heard that Yong Len is also famous for its fried kuey teow. It comes with shrimps, clams and bean sprouts. The cockles are fresh and the noodles fried till just nice, with just a hint of being charred by the wok. It was pretty good. Tastes like Penang fried kuey teow. Waited quite long for this plate of fried kuey teow. Think its because they want to maintain the consistency of the flavor. The fried kuey teow is usually prepared in plates of one or two at a time.
